Brandberg

Here is a watercolour of one of the beautiful valleys in the Brandberg in Namibia.2013-03-27 07.18.43This is on a full sheet of 300gm Arches Coldpressed (560 x 760mm).

This is a view I have tried to paint a few times over the years since I took the slide from the valley but this is the first time I feel I have produced a painting that catches something of the haunting atmosphere of this valley. ┬áThe valley is usually how far we would get on the first day up the mountain after climbing Amis ravine. ┬áLeaving the valley in the late afternoon would give us enough time to return to Luftholle – a cozy cave overlooking the Messum Crater.

I have sent the painting up to the Fine Art Gallery in Swakopmund along with my two large paintings of the Brandberg.
