Portrait of Sinead

This is how far I have got now.  I have finally got the drawing right but am not so keen on the painting.

This is 280x380mm and is on Arches Cold Pressed.   It feels a little overworked.  Time to review the approach of Charlie Boy (Herr Reid).

And here is the version I put on Facebook just before I rushed off for a surf this morning.

And here is all the sketch work I did to try to get this right, if you are interested.

Here are the sketches I did from the photos from Sinead’s Matric Dance:

Anyway then Sinead agreed to sit and read for me.  My sister and I sat and sketched her and I did these:

See how I cut off the back of her head.

Then she had enough and I went back to her dance photos:sinead-20130105-11

This is where I learnt that noses are much wider than I thought they were.sinead-20130105-18

Yesterday we all took Nonna out for a seafood lunch and I took some photos of the family in natural light.  Here we all sit:

Last night I did this sketch.

I then spent a couple of hours trying to figure out how to download photos from my phone to my laptop using bluetooth.  I had a cable but the cable-gnomes got it.  That venture was frustrating.  Eventually I gave up and went to bed.  This morning I managed to figure out how to do it.  This was no small breakthrough.  I then found the photo from which I did this drawing and painting.
